Caesars Entertainment gives official stats

According to Caesars Entertainment, the organisers of the World Series of Poker, this year$s edition of the tournament is doing quite well $ndash; even breaking a couple of records.

The main event itself is a big success: the total entry list involves 6,598 names, which makes it the fifth largest in WSOP history, but 3.8 percent down from 2011. This number of players generated a prize pool of $62,021,200, $8,527,982 of which will go to the winner.

In addition, seven figure prizes will be taken by the top 7 players, with the biggest prize list being the following:

On the other hand, the total of all prize pools in the 43rd WSOP amount to $222,035,192 – almost $30 million more than last year. The biggest boost was probably the Big One for One Drop event with its $1 million buy-in.

According to WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, “We$re still in poker$s golden age, at least when WSOP gold bracelets are on the line. We can$t thank the players enough for their continued support of the WSOP and for once again putting a bad beat on market conditions.”
