Big Names in Competition for WSOP Event 24 Bracelet


Ivey and Nguyen have to settle for less as Joe Cassidy takes it all

There was some intense action at the World Series of Poker Event 24 – a $5,000 buy-in Limit Omaha Hi/Low Split 8/OB competition which saw a stellar field of 256 entrants fight for a lucrative main prize.

The final table was one of the most anticipated ones and comprised Joe Cassidy, Scotty Nguyen, Phil Ivey, Meng La, Gregory Jamison, Elie Doft, Bart Hanson, Mike Matusow and Ryan Lenaghan.

When the action came down to three players $ndash; Ivey, Nguyen and Joe Cassidy, the latter showed exceptional skill and determination to win his first WSOP bracelet, thus depriving Ivey from his ninth and Nguyen from his sixt.

In addition, he won a nice paycheck for $294,777 after he sent Nguyen to the exit with the runner-up prize of $182,213.

After the match, Cassidy praised his opponents, and added that “….to know that you were able to beat them, on one day at least, that definitely means something.”
