Update: Lady wins NLHE Senior Championship

World Series of Poker Event 29 marked by success of Allyn Jaffrey Shulman

World Series of Poker event 29 got a new champion after Allyn Jaffrey Shulman outplayed the former WSOP main event final tabler Dennis Phillips this morning to win $603,713 in the $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Senior Championship.

Only four players resumed the play in the event on Monday – Hoyt Corkins and Bob Phelps together with Shulman and Phillips – still standing from a field of 4,128, a record field for the event.

A respected legal specialist and columnist, Shulman showed better nerves than Phillips in a dramatic heads up in which the lead shifted for a few times before she finally sent her rival home with a runner-up prize of $372,895.

Annette Obrestad$s $2 million victory in the inaugural WSOPE Main Event in 2007 still exceeds Shulman’s prize of $603,713 which is the second best result for a lady. WSOP winner’s bracelet went to Shulman with the following pay-outs on the final table:

Bob Phelps $270,727

Hoyt Corkins $199,023

Bill Stabler $147,605

Stuart Spear $110,416

William Thomson $83,332

Martin Fitzmaurice $63,418

Harold Lilie $48,669
