Update: Palumbo Wins First WSOP Bracelet for Italy After Four Years

Event 44 completed after three exciting days

This year$s $2,654,100 prize pool in World Series of Poker event 44 – $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em attracted notably high number of players (2,949) three days ago to see Rocco Palumbo emerge as the winner and the first Italian to win the bracelet in four years.

Apart from the Italian player, the event final table hosted also Nelson Robinson, Thomas Conway, Niel Mittelman, Jason Everett, Kevin Elia, Anke Berner, Patrick Karschamroon and David Forster.

The two main rivals, Palumbo and Robinson, were left alone to fight for the 1st prize after level 27, the blinds standing at 25,000-50,000 with a 5,000 ante. The Italian held a 2 to 1 lead against his opponent steadily leading the action.

Despite managing several double ups, Robinson was relatively quickly eliminated, the game barely lasting another level. Palumbo earned $464,464 as a main prize, while Robinson’s runner-up placement was worth $288,448.

A lady, Anke Berner, took part in the tough final table, finishing in the 7th position.
