Update: Third Final Table Brings Victory for McCorkell in World Series of Poker


Brit pro player wins Event 36 of this year$s WSOP

Thursday$s Event 36 – $3,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Shootout at the World Series of Poker was won by a Brit poker pro Craig McCorkell proving to be the third time lucky for the 26-year-old Londoner in the competition event entered by 587 hopefuls.

McCorkell reached third final table in an eight event of this year’s WSOP and finally emerged victorious after a dynamic heads-up against Jeremiah Fitzpatrick.

Apart from Fitzpatrick, the star-studded final table included also Antonio Esfandiari, Jonathan Lane, Athanasios Polychronopoulos, Alessandro Longobardi, Roberto Romanello, Thiago Nishijima, Joe Tehan and Sardor Gaziev.

Fitzpatrick has a 3 to 1 chip lead in the heads up against McCorkell, but the young Englishman never lost focus and gradually decreased the lead to overtake his rival and finish by winning a huge all-in with pocket eights against Fitzpatrick’s ace eight.

McCorkell$s first prize of $368,593 together with the first-time-won WSOP bracelet prompted him to promise he would be entering many other tournaments with his prize money. Fitzpatrick earned a runner-up amount of $228,261.
