Poker site bonuses – worth it?

So I read an article the other day saying a great way to build a poker bankroll is to “abuse site bonuses.” by this they mean signing up for a site, getting the bonus cash for an initial deposit and then moving the money to another site and doing the same thing.

This made sense and seemed like a good idea until I actually looked into my pokerstars account. With my initial 100$ deposit, they don’t simply hand you another 100 (duh), but rather make you play for it in increments. This also seemed alright until I looked at the sheer number of points I would have to accrue in order to make my deposit. I have been playing for about a month and a half and I multi table regularly at the microstakes nlhe games. I have 140 VPPs and need a whopping 750 before I receive just 10$. This means I would have to make 7,500 VPPs by the end of the year to make my deposit back.

Am I missing something or is this not as viable a way to make a bankroll as everyone claims?

It’s worth it because it is extra money and really they don’t have to give you anything. It does take time to release the full bonus and it is possible to have to deposit again to do it but it is worth it in the long run.

that’s how every site’s poker bonuses works, there’s no site that gives you bonus instantly, this is to make sure you still play on the site and not just there to collect the bonus
it is worth it, that is if you plan to stay on that site to play poker

Well if you are a good player, they are basically giving you a free amount of money in addition to what else you will earn during that rollover period. However not everyone is a great player and they go bust way before they earn the full bonus. If you want a great bonus, with little rollover, then Bodog.com is far and away the best site.
Join BODOG today for SPORTSBETTING, POKER, HORSEBETTING AND CASINO. You can earn up to 110% on your intial deposit. My referral code is P155CB20. I get 20% on your first deposit up to 100 dollars. Thanks.

So you thought they will just give you the money and you will withdraw?
Ofcourse thats impossible, they are not stupid, the current system is great.

That’s the way gambling sites are. The best way to take advantage of the bonuses is to play at a site where they offer a large bonus. The biggest i have seen is at Cherry red. you can find it at..

No, this is NOT a viable way to make a bankroll. If you are NOT a profitable poker player, you WILL lose money even with the bonuses. If you ARE a profitable poker player, you will WIN money – even without the bonuses! Simple as that.

When I first started playing poker online, I lost a “relatively” good bit of money trying to release bonuses than it was actually worth. If you can play consistently and earn points without losing more than you’ll gain with the bonuses, then it IS worth it. But, if you trick your mind into thinking that you need to play more than you should, and it effects your game, then no it isn’t worth it.

And “abusing” bonuses isn’t a good way to pad your bankroll…sooner or later you’ll run out of sites to collect bonuses from!
